Health, health, health....

Does this really need to be said again? The long list of health issues related to smoking is mind boggling. Why on earth do people still continue to do it knowing that it could kill them eventually and if they do not stop, the faster their health will deteriorate.  Tobacco smoking is responsible for an astounding 1 in 10 deaths worldwide. Do we really want to increase this with more deaths in the future because that’s what lowering the smoking age will do. I could recite the long list of health problems that smoking causes but it’s already been said a billion times. The pain it causes for families and their loved ones, even just thinking about it brings a tear to my eye. What is happening to society?

Fact is that most smokers start before the age of 18 and they never expected to become addicted. So we need to address the problems that cause them to start in the first place so we can fight tobacco addiction and help our youth grow up in a healthier environment. Tobacco companies aren't helping. They know that they are hurting people but they all they care about is their money and have very little compassion for those who may be affected by smoking.

  1. Smoking does contribute alot of health issues. But, because the symptoms only show after a long period of time, people forget what it could do to them. Also, it is true tobacco companies make alot of money but it's same for the government too. They gain a ton of money from tobacco taxes.
